To help the candidates prepare themselves for the IDC.

This course is excellent value. It allows the candidate to practice in an informal relaxed environment the theory and practical skills required for the IDC. It gives each student the chance to improve their water skills to the demonstration quality required (even full time Divemasters need to ensure they are performing the skills to PADI Standards), it also covers the theory, which is required for the 5 exams, and an introduction to teaching in the classroom.

IDC INSTRUCTOR DEVELOPMENT COURSE
WHAT DO I NEED BEFORE I CAN ENROLL INTO AN IDC?
You need to be 18 years old, a PADI Divemaster or Assistant Instructor with current membership with PADI.
Be a certified diver for at least 6 months, Complete all knowledge reviews from Candidate Workbook.
and have completed and logged at least 100 dives.
WHAT IS AN IDC AND WHO CAN DO IT?
The course is open to Dive masters and assistant instructors and also instructors from the following organizations.
Other instructor candidates (none PADI) are only required to follow the last 5 days of the IDC.

WHAT DOES AN IDC GIVE ME?
An Instructor development course course take your professional level dive skills from Divemaster level and provides candidates with all the necessary techniques and information for teaching the PADI Courses and for the examination.
Each candidate is tested on their ability to teach in the classroom, the confined water and the open water.
Watermanship is also tested by means of a Rescue evaluation, an 800 yard (738m) swim using mask, snorkel and fins
and a demonstration of 5 confined water skills.

Note: It is expected of all candidates that they have sufficient knowledge of diving theory prior to the IDC.
There are no formal theory presentations during the course.
OWIS IINSTRUCTOR EXAM (IE)
WHAT MUST I HAVE DONE TO ENTER AN IE?
You must complete an IDC and present the certificate of completion.
Be certified as a diver for at least 6 months and have at least 100 logged dives . NB:- (candidates that have completed the CDC Program are allowed to participate in the IE before 100 dives, but PADI will not process the paperwork until this prerequisites has been met).
WHATS INVOLVED IN A IE?
The examination is held over the 3days following the IDC. Day 1 tests your Dive Theory Knowledge, Day 2 Test your confined water presentation skills and the final 3rd day tests your Openwater organisational skills. The examination is conducted by independent examiners from PADI Headquarters.
