The PADI Divemaster Course consists of three modules: Knowledge Development, Water Skills and Stamina , and Practical Application.
You'll probably progress through all three modules simultaneously, based upon the course schedule you and your instructor will agree upon.
During this period as a trainee Divemaster you will develop leadership skills and professional-level dive knowledge and abilities.
Earning this Certification as a PADI Divemaster will distinguish you as both an accomplished diver and a leader, you are now at the doorstep of becoming a Padi Dive Instructor.

WHAT DOES BECOMING A DIVEMASTER INTAIL?
To enable the candidate to organise, conduct and supervise recreational diving activities.
To enable the candidate to effectively act as an instructional assistant to a certified PADI Open water Scuba Instructor.
To develop the candidates theoretical diving knowledge to a level sufficient to become an Instructor.
To prepare and encourage the candidate for Instructor level training.
The PADI Dive master Program is designed to train individuals as supervisory personnel for Open water diving activities.
In this role, the Dive master may oversee general diving activities, serve as an underwater guide or as an instructional assistant.
Dive master training consists of three instructional modules which may be taught concurrently.
WHAT IS COVERED DURING A DIVEMASTER COURSE?
- MODULE ONE: Watermanship and Skill Assessment
- MODULE TWO: Professional Dive Knowledge Development
- MODULE THREE: Internship acting as an instructional Assistant on both pool and openwater training sessions
REQUIREMENTS TO BECOME A PADI DIVE MASTER
In order to be certified as a PADI Dive master the candidate must:
- Satisfactorily complete the PADI Dive master Watermanship and Skill Assessment.
- Satisfactorily complete a diver rescue evaluation.
- Score satisfactorily on the dive master exams.
- Prepare an Emergency Assistance Plan for diving emergencies in the local area and include the appropriate contact information.
- Prepare a map of the shoreline and underwater terrain of a local training site selected by the Instructor.
- Satisfactorily serve as an instructional assistant for PADI pool sessions and PADI open water sessions

As an achiever and a PADI Dive master a whole new industry is open to you. With your PADI Dive master certification you are now able to secure insurance which is an important requirement when looking for employment in the recreational diving industry. At most professional stores all staff must be at least a PADI Dive master prior to employment. This highly respected rating opens up a whole new career in a fast growing progressive industry. As a PADI Dive master you are now eligible to commence your instructor training. The avenues open to Open water Instructors are endless and demand is always high for these highly trained and respected individuals. Since the Instructor rating is recognized world wide, it allows you to travel to exciting and interesting destinations. PREREQUISITES
PADI Advanced and Rescue diver or Equivalent.
Equivalent Advanced = see Rescue Diver.
Equivalent Rescue = proof of certification in diving Rescue from another training agency.
60 dives required by time of certification
Age 18 years.
BETTER PREPARE AND SAVE TIME ON YOUR COURSE
You can buy your PADI materials now and be prepared for your course.
Submit a medical examination from a Physician stating fitness for diving, completed in the last 12 months.
The course can be reduced to about 12 days if necessary with home study required or extended to about 28 days if you want. If you want to do this course in the shortest time then you must have read the Divemaster Manual and completed the Knowledge Reviews from it; you must have completed the Diving Knowledge Study Workbook; and practice your watermanship skills.
